Thirty-six Egyptian universities were placed among  1,477 institutions across 95 countries, in the 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings against 26 Egyptian universities last year.

This year, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings have introduced a new theme, “Doing Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education: The Story of Our Institution and Society”. This will continue to encourage greater participation from universities worldwide, fostering a collective commitment to building sustainable campuses for the future.

The rankings aim to present the results of an online survey on the current conditions and policies related to sustainability efforts and institutional improvements in universities all over the world. It is expected that by drawing the attention of university leaders and stakeholders, more attention will be given to global climate change, clean energy, water conservation, waste recycling, green transportation, and sustainability education and research.
