Egypt and the UAE joined hands to launch the first digital school as e-learning became an exigency over the spread of the coronavirus crisis, said Secretary General of the Digital School Waleed Al Ali.

The educational process has marked a breakthrough over the past years, he said, adding that it is time to depend on technology and innovation to promote education in the Arab world.

The Digital School, which is the first comprehensive Arab online school, aims to reach one million disadvantaged students in the next five years and increase the quality of online education throughout the Arab world.

Al Ali underlined the importance of promoting communication and technological networks to help students continue their educational process.

He said the digital school is meant to flexibly provide e-learning to disadvantaged students, noting that there are plans to establish a digital education coalition.

He hailed Egypt’s rich experiment in developing education, especially online learning.

He added that there are plans for providing international and local curricula, while taking into consideration the educational curricula of each country.

Coordination is underway with education ministries and the authorities concerned to offer education to disadvantaged segments, especially refugees.
