The Federation of Egyptian Banks (FEB) allocated EGP 100 million for establishing the first official sustainable school in Egypt “Our Identity School” in tandem with the Ministry of Education.

Cherishing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and seeking to enhance sustainable development, the FEB signed a cooperation protocol with the Education Ministry and the Cairo Governorate to establish this school to contribute to upgrading education which is one of the mainstays of sustainable development.

Education Minister Tareq Shawqy said this partnership with the FEB will realize a quantum leap in pre-university education through graduating youths capable of innovation.

Shawqy commended the federation’s role in promoting education and developing schools.

“Our Identity School” will be an outstanding model for partnership between the public and private sectors, he said.

He added that this school promotes the ministry’s vision on upgrading the educational mechanism to focus on identity and sustainable development for the coming generations to be capable of coping with the developments of the age and contributing to the implementation of Egypt Vision 2030.

The FEB’s Chairman Hisham Ezz El Arab said the federation seeks to contribute to upgrading the educational mechanism through “Our Identity School” which presents a model embracing the Egyptian identity and the principles of sustainable development.

Ezz El Arab said the federation is keen on supporting Egyptian children and securing a fair opportunity for all children to receive high quality education.

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal said the governorate allocated five feddans for establishing the school.

Abdel Aal said the governorate is keen on cooperating with civil society to buttress development efforts, noting that cooperation with the FEB has gone beyond the infrastructure sector to realize progress in the educational sector.

He hailed an initiative by the FEB to develop slum areas in Cairo and Giza.

Under this initiative, the federation spent about EGP 450 million pounds over the past four years to develop these shanty areas.
