Orange offers EGP100,000 annually to back friska seller in university study

Head of Orange Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Public Relations (PR) Hala Abdel Wadood said the company has allocated EGP 100,000 annual grant to Ibrahim Saber – a young man who used to sell friska in Alexandria to earn his living – in order to continue his study at the faculty of medicine.

Saber managed to get very high marks – 99.6 percent – in the secondary stage, thus qualifying him to join the faculty of medicine at Alexandria University.

Wadood said the grant offered by Orange is meant to help Saber attend scientific courses and get needed equipment for his study.

Wadood said “We give you the money, but we do not want an ordinary doctor, we want another Magy Yacoub.”

Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has offered Saber a full scholarship.

The minister said Saber deserves all support because he is hard worker and is pursuing his dream.

Abdel Ghaffar said the ministry will offer all needed support for Saber whom – he described as a distinguished student.

A video went viral on social media showing Saber saying that he managed to get this high marks despite selling friska on Alex beach to help his father.
