UB of Egypt realized remarkable SDGs, CSR achievements in 2022
United Bank (UB) of Egypt President Ashraf El Kady said the bank has realized remarkable achievements in 2022 with regard to serving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The United Bank was keen to issue its first of carbon footprint for its three headquarters in November 2022 which coincided with the convocation of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Egypt.
This fell within the framework the Egyptian state and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) approach towards green economy applications, to accomplish sustainable development according to the Egypt vision 2030, in order to reduce the negative impacts of climate changes and promote green sustainable finance.
Within this context, the UB supported efforts for transforming South Sinai governorate into a green city.
The UB also took the initiative to grant the amount of budget allocated for the 2022 gifts to support “Decent Life” initiative, with cooperation of Tahya Misr Fund. Coinciding with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announcement in the World Youth Forum that year 2022 is the year of civil work, UB has launched a national initiative, under the slogan of “Ala el khier natahed” For Good We United.
The bank was also interested in the Ramadan feeding boxes in cooperation with Egyptian Food Bank to support poor families by distributing 1600 food boxes with the cooperation of Egyptian Food Bank.
The bank was also keen on promoting the state’s digital transformation plans. The International Finance Magazine has announced the UB winning the award of “The best digital banking channels- Egypt 2020”. That was to crown the UB’s exerted efforts in providing banking solutions and banking products through innovative digital channels and tools.
The UB has been selected to this award according to meticulous criteria and accurate evaluation, by a committee of international experts in digital channels field, for the kind of services and banking solutions provided by the UB to support its clients, either individuals or corporates, using the modern technology tools.
Backing the Nile Pioneer’s hard work for four years, the UB has presented 1925 technical and non- banking services for 660 Egyptian entrepreneurs all around Egypt. Aiming to improve work places, and provide support to entrepreneurs and small enterprises and start- ups, in order to face the challenges either locally or internationally.
The UB provided full support to a number of 297 entrepreneurs with a volume of about 100 million pounds’ finance.
