Plastic bank, Lorenz snack world – Egypt team up to reduce plastic waste
The Plastic Bank Social Enterprise announced inking a partnership deal with Lorenz Snack World – Egypt with an aim to reduce the amount of plastic waste ending up in rivers and seas.
Under the agreement, Lorenz Snack World – Egypt will collaborate with the Plastic Bank to prevent 20,000 kilograms of plastic waste (equivalent to one million plastic bottles) from reaching seas and rivers in 2022.
This action will help improve environmental conditions of several coastal communities.
Amr el Kady, the Plastic Bank’s Regional Director for Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa, said “the Plastic Bank seeks to engage in new partnerships with prestigious entities to contribute to solving several social problems, improving living conditions of plastic waste collectors, and curbing plastic pollution in Egypt. This goes in line with the state’s drive to a green future.”
“We are delighted to cooperate with Lorenz Snack World – Egypt, one of the major international food manufacturers, who shares us the same vision towards environmental sustainability and social development, thus promoting the circular economy goals in Egypt,” added Amr el Kady.
For his part, Abdullah Ezzat, General Manager and CFO of Lorenz Snack World – Egypt, said “We are happy to collaborate with Plastic Bank which shares us the same vision for adopting sound practices to realize environmental sustainability, especially as the bank was the first to introduce a comprehensive ecosystem in Egypt. The bank managed to achieve unprecedented success in a short period.”
He added that Lorenz Snack World – Egypt will join hands with the Plastic Bank to provide plastic collectors in Egypt with basic needs, such as groceries, cooking fuel, and health insurance, in order to achieve social development which helps achieving social development and environmental sustainability.
