The Arab League and the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization teamed up to launch the Arab Decade website for eradicating illiteracy and learning elderly people on January 8 which marks the Arab Literacy Day.
The Arab League General Secretariat will organize a ceremony to mark the Arab Literacy Day.
This year’s event will be held under the slogan of “Literacy… Building people and developing nations.”
The event will be organized in coordination and cooperation with Egypt’s General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education; since Egypt was the country that launched the Arab Literacy Decade (2015-2024) after it was approved by the 25th Arab Summit held in Kuwait in 2014.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Arab League General Secretariat said marking the Arab Literacy Day offers a chance for highlighting the obstacles hampering Arab efforts to achieve development.
The event will also underline the importance of rallying up Arab efforts and innovating nontraditional methods to eradicate illiteracy.
The ceremony is set to highlight the efforts it exerted in cooperation with partners since the launch of the Arab Literacy Decade.
