AstraZeneca Egypt is launching a holistic patient support program “Tadamon” which offers different solutions to support cancer patients.
The program is launched in coincidence with the World Cancer Day which falls on February 4. This world day is an opportunity to renew and amplify efforts to manage this disease. This year’s theme, “Uniting our Voices and Taking Action,” is timely, as no single organization, sector, or approach can conquer cancer on its own. It will take a collective effort to make meaningful progress.
The program includes access to free diagnostic tests, in addition to increasing the awareness of patients and their families by fully empowering them with all the resources and early screenings.
Additionally, AstraZeneca announced “Accelerating Change Together; Cancer Care in Africa (ACT; CCA) program”, on the margins of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference ( COP27) which Egypt hosted in November 2022, under the patronage of the Egyptian Ministry of Health.
The program aims to increase the screening and diagnostic capabilities and empowering patients to fight cancer. Furthermore, it has ambitious goals to expand cancer screening and diagnostic services to estimate of one million people and provide training to over 10,000 healthcare professionals across 100 oncology centers in Africa.
Dr. Hatem Werdany, Country President of AstraZeneca Egypt, ‘’This World Cancer Day, we are reinforcing our collective efforts to transform the lives of cancer patients. AstraZeneca Egypt cares about being an impactful corporate citizen in the Egyptian community. For that reason, AstraZeneca employees have volunteered on World Cancer Day this year at Cancer Children Hospital 57357, through visiting the hospital and showing solidarity with patients and their caregivers, spreading cheer and hope amongst children.”
Furthermore, Werdany emphasized on “AstraZeneca’s strategy to provide better healthcare opportunities for healthier life for future generations through our Young Health Program, which aims to raise the awareness of over 700,000 young Egyptians on how to take better choices towards a healthier lifestyle, along with the endorsement of 5 Egyptian Ministries and multiple partners. As we believe in the importance of keeping an open dialogue with youth, enabling different generations to take correct actions to protect themselves from non-communicable diseases such as cancer.’’
