The “Athar Award” (or Impact Award) for best practices in sustainability is set to be launched at the annual Forum of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development in Egypt (Egypt CSR Forum), slated for March 13, with the aim of honoring pioneers in development work and sustainable development.
This award launch is also meant to prop up the efforts exerted by the business community and civil society to achieve Egypt Vision 2030 and provide decent life for Egyptian citizens.
This step comes in appreciation of the effective role and efforts of all parties concerned with development in Egypt to achieve quantum leap and real change in citizens’ lives, promote sustainability, lead the march of development and realize sustainable development impact having a positive effect on future generations.
Hassan Moustafa, Chairman of the Egypt CSR Forum, accentuated that the Athar Award launch aligns with the forum’s vision and strategy to magnify impact and drum up efforts in the sustainability domain in addition to incentivizing and upskilling those working in this field.
He highlighted the continued support offered by business community institutions and civil society organizations to push forward the wheel of development and realize a positive impact on Egyptian people’s life.
Moustafa said the award aims to enhance innovative initiatives, bring to limelight the best works and practices contributing to comprehensive and sustainable development, have a tangible impact on the life of individuals and communities and raise awareness about the importance of social responsibility.
The award also represents a gesture of appreciation for the significant efforts and contributions of the private sector, civil society organizations, non-profit associations, individual and collective initiatives and entrepreneurs, he said.
Moustafa said the award underlined the importance of promoting social responsibility through encouraging more companies and individuals to get involved in social projects, propagating for successful initiatives and highlighting stories of success to incentivize others in addition to catalyzing positive change and bringing to limelight prominent icons and figures in the field of disseminating the culture of sustainability and social responsibility.
The award targets several categories; including Innovation in Sustainable Development which targets initiatives offering innovative solutions, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which targets companies with impactful programs, Social Entrepreneurship which targets individuals and startups, Community Empowerment which targets initiatives focusing on empowering marginalized groups; and Education and Awareness which targets projects contributing to disseminating knowledge and awareness.
The categories also include Environmental Sustainability for initiatives and practices in this score, Social Inclusion for initiatives supporting people with special needs, Youth Support for programs backing youth empowerment and development, Local Production for initiatives promoting local manufacturing and local brands, Community Participation for companies most involved in community initiatives, and Sustainable Agriculture for initiatives concerned with agricultural development and addressing food security challenges.
The “Athar Award” is launched under the patronage of the administration of the annual Egypt CSR Forum which first mooted in 2014.
CSR Forum is the largest development platform bringing together business leaders and all the parties concerned with development in Egypt over more than ten years under notable government patronage and with the participation of thousands of experts, CEOs, directors and sustainability professionals. This has fructified into several partnerships and initiatives affecting both business and community.
