CSR Egypt Board Chairman Hassan Moustafa announced that CSR Egypt will launch in April its first “Athar Award” (or Impact Award) for best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable businesses and programs that have positively affected societies.

The award targets private sector companies, entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, academic associations and individual initiatives.

The award will be launched during the 10th CSR Forum – the largest gathering for all those interested in CSR, sustainability and development.

The forum – due to be held on 6 April 2020 under the theme of “We Share Building Integrated, Developed, Smart and Sustainable Future” – will coincide with the fifth anniversary of establishing CSR Egypt.

CSR Egypt is the first platform in Egypt to adopt the Sustainable Development Goal 17 which calls for promoting partnerships to realize sustainable development. Serving this end, the company organized over the past five years more than 20 gatherings and events with the participation of more than 350 companies and institutions as well as 7,000 experts and those interested in the CSR and sustainability scores.

The company seeks to disseminate awareness among companies and institutions on the importance of CSR in realizing sustainable development that would have a great impact on the Egyptian people’s lives and help accomplishing the Egyptian state development plans.

Therefore, the 10th CSR Forum will focus on means of realizing development in the fields of education, health, small and medium sized enterprises and entrepreneurship, Moustafa said.

The forum will also highlight the importance of business institutions’ contribution to state plans to establish a social protection network, Moustafa said.

Moustafa added that the forum will also address amalgamating the informal economy into the formal economy in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8 which calls for transition to formality.

Moustafa said the forum will also tackle the impact of financial inclusion and digital transformation to expand sustainable cities, sustainable transportation and drawing up green economy policies to achieve the aspired development.

The forum will for the first time see specialized workshops for addressing the concept of “Corporate Citizenship which is a recognition that a business, corporation or business-like organization, has social, cultural and environmental responsibilities to the community in which it seeks a license to operate, as well as economic and financial ones to its shareholders or immediate stakeholders.

The workshops will also focus on the role of media in raising awareness among people about the state efforts to realize sustainable development.

A number of workshops will also review Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications in various domains, including agriculture, tourism, sustainable and safe transportation and sustainable financing.

The forum falls within the framework of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to achieve balanced sustainable development that would ensure a better future for all Egyptians.

About 300 companies and 75 speakers will take part in the forum alongside more than 1,000 experts and those interested in the CSR and sustainability scores.

The forum seeks to secure a platform for interaction of all parties in order to engage in partnerships and come up with a unified vision and solutions to key issues in order to help achieve Egypt Vision 2030 for sustainable development.
