Egypt Health Passport app launched as alternative for paper vaccination cards
Egypt Health Passports application was launched to be an alternative to substitute paper vaccination certificates at airports.
The application can be easily downloaded for the Google playstore or apple store and will operate on android mobile phones and iphones, the Health Ministry said.
The ministry expounded that the app user should enter his ID number and the 20-digit vaccination registration number in addition to a selfie photo.
The application enables Egyptian citizens and residents of Egypt enrolled in the Egyptian COVID-19 vaccination program to register, view and share their vaccination data and status in a reliable and secure manner. Up-to-date information about each user’s vaccination status, dosage dates and scheduled appointments are displayed.
The application supports two secure types of vaccination status sharing; the first is visual through the mobile phone’s screen, and the second is through a QR code that can be scanned and accessed through the verifying party’s mobile phone camera. In both cases, the color of the application’s background changes to reflect vaccination status in a fast and easily recognizable manner.
Registered users can add more than one travel document to their application profile, sharing the information with airport authorities on their way to or out of Egypt. The application’s data integrity and updates are maintained even without an Internet connection.
The vaccination status displayed on a user’s mobile screen is used as an official document enabling users access to establishments with restrictions on entry of non-vaccinated individuals.
It added that the application consists of three colors to show the vaccination status of the person.
The red color shows that the person is not vaccinated, the yellow color that the person has taken the first dose of the vaccine and the green color for fully vaccinated person.
Both Egyptians and foreigners who registered their data for vaccination in Egypt can benefit from this application, the Health Ministry said.
The ministry decided that no employee will access his workplace without being vaccinated or undergoing PCR test every week as of November 15.
As of December, no citizens will be allowed to access any governmental institution for finalizing any measures without making sure that he is vaccinated.
The Health Ministry is taking all precautionary measures nationwide and is following up the situation of coronavirus.
The ministry also opened the door for the 15-18 age group to register for vaccination.
This age group will get two doses of Pfizer vaccine with 21 days between the two doses.
