Egyptian inventors taking part in the 12th International Invention Fair in the Middle East (IIFME) snatched seven medals, including one gold, five silver and one bronze, for their outstanding inventions.
In a statement issued by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), ASRT President Mahmoud Saqr commended the Egyptian inventors, highlighting the efforts being exerted by the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry, especially the academy, to support innovation and inventors.
Participants from about 40 states take part in the fair which is held this year in Kuwait.
Dr Ibrahim el Sherbiny won a gold medal and another silver for his inventions in the medicine domain, the statement said, noting that his inventions were funded by ASRT.
Also, Sarah el Dakhli won two silver medals in the medicine domain.
Mai Mahmoud Hegazi and Dina Emad Ahmed and their team copped a silver medal for their invention in the computer science and programming score. They invented a smart T-shirt detecting physical violence.
Dr Mahmoud Galal won a silver medal in the agriculture field as he invented a safe plant-based agro-pesticide.
Salem Abu Bakr received a bronze medal for his smart scooter invention in the mechanics and motors domain.
The International Invention Fair of the Middle East (IIFME) has a well-established tradition; the first of which was held in 2007, and since then, IIFME has been raising the bar higher; and today the IIFME is one of the largest specialized invention fairs in the Middle East, and it is deemed as the second most significant fair worldwide.
The achievements of the previous IIFME are proof of the significance of the desired message to be delivered via the fair.
The IIFME focuses on the recent advanced inventions and technologies in the following fields; for example, mechanical and industrial tools, computer science, civil engineering construction, electronics, agriculture and gardening, teaching methods, aviation, motor vehicles, alternative energy, medicine and many more.
