Juhayna Food Industries joined the “E-Tadweer” within the framework of its deep belief in the importance of spreading environmental awareness.

This praiseworthy initiative aims at developing a system that pertains to collecting and recycling electronic waste.

In fact, “E-Tadweer” was launched under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment, the Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA), together with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), within the framework of the Presidential initiative “Go Green”.

It is noteworthy that Juhayna’s participation in “E-Tadweer” will be embodied in supplying computers that contribute to saving the equivalent of 320 kilograms of carbon.

Moreover, the company’s participation comes in line with the role played by the Federation of Egyptian Industries and the Environmental Compliance Office in encouraging partnership with the private sector, as well as supporting entrepreneurship in the field of sustainable development.

In this context, Passant Fouad, External Relations Director at Juhayna, stated “As a responsible investor, Juhayna abides by a steadfast strategy that integrates the company’s environmental and social practices into all its activities, initiatives, and programs.”

Fouad added “This year, our participation in ‘E-Tadweer’ was extremely crucial, being one of the most vital initiatives that help in raising awareness about the significance of recycling, in addition to encouraging all sectors and individuals to adopt environmentally friendly practices. Indeed, we are determined to do that as part of our strategy to achieve sustainable development.”

At the beginning of this year, Juhayna published its Carbon Footprint report for 2019, which showcases the environmental impact’s assessment process of its activities, and highlights how the company’s carbon footprint comes in line with the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), along with Egypt’s 2030 vision.

The report revealed that Juhayna produces less than the average emissions, in comparison with other similar global companies. In addition, the report showed that “the company seeks to achieve a primary goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 15% in three of its essential sectors namely; Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Distribution by the year 2025.”
