NBE donates total of EGP 300 m during COVID-19 crisis

The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has donated a total of EGP 300 million since the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

The donations helped purchasing medical equipment for isolation hospitals in addition to supporting daily-wage workers who are badly affected by the pandemic.

The funds allocated for consolidating the medical sector ended up in purchasing medical equipment in isolation hospital affiliated to El Qasr El Eini complex in addition to fitting out university hospitals with needed equipment to receive coronavirus patients.

The donations also backed Ein Shams University hospitals in addition to purchasing CT Scanners and testing apparatus for central labs of the Health Ministry.

The bank also bankrolled the Ramadan media campaign which aimed at supporting irregular workers and those affected by the coronavirus crisis.

The bank also donated to Tahya Misr Fund with an aim to back vulnerable people. The bank also took part in an initiative launched by the Federation of Egyptian Banks which is meant to mitigate the impact of the coronvirus crisis.

The NBE also opened 111111 bank account for receiving donations for containing the pandemic fallout. The bank injected EGP 10 million into the account upon its launch.

The NBE has announced that its allocations for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) last year exceeded EGP 2 billion.

The bank earmarked a total of EGP 6.5 billion for CSR activities over the past five years.
