Orange Egypt, the fastest network in Egypt, sponsored the Enactus National Competition 2021 within the framework of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy as well as efforts to encourage creativity and innovative solutions that would contribute to solving the problems of the local community.

The team of October 6 University won the first place in the national contest and will represent Egypt in the  Enactus World Cup due to be held in October 2021.

About 35 Egyptian universities participated in the contest which Orange Egypt sponsored for the 15th year in row.

The winning team was named during a ceremony held recently in the presence of Social Solidarity Minister Nivine Qabbaj, UNICEF Representative in Egypt Jeremy Hopkins, Deputy Higher Education Minister for universities affairs Ayman Ashour, Advisor of Higher Education Minister for students’ affairs Taie Taha, Chairman of Enactus Egypt Board of Trustees and Orange CEO Yasser Shaker, Orange Egypt’s Chief Communications Officer Maha Nagy, Orange Egypt’s Chief Enterprise line of business officer Hisham Mahran, and Orange Egypt’s Chief People & Facilities Officer Emad Sonbaty

A group of Orange Egypt officials participated in the competition’s arbitration committee alongside a cluster of businessmen and CEOs of heavy-weight international companies. At the end of the competition, three winners were named after meticulous assessment of the presented projects.

The team of October 6 University ranked the first for its multi-stage project aiming at collecting Nile roses from water and turning this harmful plant into three beneficial products in lieu of burning it as was the case previously and causing damage to the environment.

The Helwan University team came in second place with its project to extract silica, cellulose and lignin from rice straw, thus avoiding rice straw burning , a process which causes severe harm to the  environment.

Cairo University ranked the third with its project which aims to obtain a value chain that meets the needs of children through locally-produced organic foodstuffs that are highly beneficial.

On this occasion, CEO of Orange Egypt Yasser Shaker expressed pride in the innovative projects and solutions presented by the participants in Enactus Egypt 2021 as they would contribute to solving Egypt’s problems of social, technological and economic priority.

He noted that the students taking part in the contest have showed an outstanding innovation, creativity and enthusiasm that would incentivize Orange Egypt to continue buttressing such activities which represent a genuine platform bringing to limelight talents as well as the efforts exerted by young people and the ideas they have in mind that can directly and efficiently serve the community.

It is worth mentioning that Egypt’s Azhar University won the Enactus World Cup 2020 during its first-time participation in the international contest.
