Queen Elizabeth honors Egyptian woman for community services in London

Queen Elizabeth of Britain has honored an Egyptian woman for her outstanding efforts to serve the local community in London where Inas Ibrahim Helal lives.

Social media circulated the news which was feted by a large number of people.

Mostafa Ragab, the director of the Egyptian House in London, lauded the achievements realized by Helal –  who hails from the Nubian village Abou Hour.He noted that members from the Egyptian community attended the honoring ceremony which was held in Buckingham Palace.

This is not the first time for Queen Elizabeth to honor Egyptian and Muslim women.

In 2015, the queen honored Deputy governor of the Bank of England Dr. Nemat Talaat Shafik and chair of Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation Rimla Akhtar.
The queen bestowed a Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (DBE) on Dr. Nemat Shafik – who is originally from Egypt’s second city of Alexandria – for her services to public administration and the global economy.

She has previously worked as deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and permanent secretary of the UK’s Department for International Development.Asian businesswoman Rimla Akhtar, the chair of Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation, received the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her work in promoting equality and diversity.

Akhtar leads the organization’s work in raising awareness and providing sporting opportunities for women, in particular those from ethnic minority communities.
Akhtar also co-founded The Listening Service, an organization that provides mental health awareness and support for all women, with a particular focus on women from minority communities.
