Sisi urges NACDW, civil society entities to double efforts in 2023
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi urged the National Alliance for Civil Development Work (NACDW) and civil society entities to intensify efforts in 2023, especially in light of the international economic conditions.
Sisi made the remarks during the first NACDW Conference which was held at Al-Masah Capital on Monday.
Sisi said the NACDW has exerted great efforts in 2022 to confront the repercussions of the current international economic crisis.
Sisi highlighted the NACDW’s announcement of securing EGP 14 billion for charity work, calling on the Tahya Misr Fund to contribute to upping this sum of money.
He said 2022 was the year of civil community, but the reality is that 2023 needs to drum up efforts in light of the hard international conditions.
He referred to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the Coronavirus pandemic which lasted for two years.
He said Egypt pays the price of such crises like other world countries, calling on civil society organizations to double their efforts in 2023.
He urged the NACDW to give priority to the agricultural sector in the initiatives it is launching to support the community.
The president hailed the efforts exerted by farmers, especially the agricultural projects reviewed at the conference.
Sisi stressed that training farmers on modern agricultural methods will largely contribute to increasing crops and saving water and fertilizers.
He expounded that planting one feddan using modern agricultural methods reduces water consumption by 10 percent and helps to raise production by 20 to 40 percent.
He underlined the state’s preparedness to offer more support to farmers.
Earlier Monday, the Spokesman for the Presidency said that the National Alliance for Civil Development Work Conference is an important pillar in the development process in the country and supports social safety nets, in integration with the efforts of the government and the private sector. The three sectors work to achieve community development for the benefit of citizens throughout the governorates of Egypt.
Civil society organizations have trained and qualified administrative and field staff capable of providing services swiftly and efficiently, in addition to having access to families and target groups and providing them with various community services.
The National Alliance for Civil Development Work was launched in March 2022, with the participation and membership of major civil society and development institutions in Egypt.
