Sydney University climbs four places to be 27th in world

The University of Sydney has been ranked 27th in the world by the US News Best Global Universities rankings, capping off a strong performance across the world rankings in 2019.

The University of Sydney has been ranked 27th in the world and second in Australia by the US News Best Global Universities rankings released today.

An improvement on last year’s position of 31st, the result caps of a strong performance across this year’s world rankings, including the University retaining its position in the top 50 of the QS World University Rankings and rising in the Times Higher Education global reputation ranking.

“I am extremely proud to have our research excellence recognised on a global scale. This result continues our strong performance across all four of the major global rankings this year,” said Vice-Chancellor and Principal Dr Michael Spence.

“Our researchers are taking on some of the world’s greatest challenges and this ranking is a testament to all their hard work.”

The University of Sydney is continuing to invest in world-class research with researchers looking to create solutions including developing 3D-printed bones to revolutionise surgerybusting traffic congestion and finding a solution to the world’s waste.
