UN official fetes Egypt’s positive steps towards renewable energy

United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt  Elena Panova lauded the positive steps taken by Egypt to depend on renewable energy resources, topped by solar energy, in order to mitigate the impact of climate change.

She stressed that the UN will continue propping up Egypt in climate adaptation to achieve the Egypt Vision 2030 and the seventh Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 7 ) which aims to “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.”

She made the remarks during the third Forum on Strategies for Transition to Green Economy – which is organized by CSR Egypt under the patronage of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli.

She noted that the UN was committed to cooperating with the Egyptian government despite the pandemic in order to realize development and attain the sustainable development goals.

She added that Egypt implemented a strong economic reform program over the past years.

She said the Egyptian economic reform program is one of the key steps taken to carry out sustainable development goals.

She hailed the national projects implemented by the state, noting that these achievements created economic opportunities for both companies and individuals.
