United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) expert in Egypt Annachiara Scandone said projects in the field of circular economy as well as resources and energy efficiency represent the largest share of UNIDO’s cooperation portfolio with Egypt.

She made the remarks on Tuesday during the 5th Forum on Strategies for Transition to Green Economy which is organized by CSR Egypt under the theme of Green DNA “Sustainable Finance and Impact Investment”.

She expounded that UNIDO seeks to promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization in emerging and developing economies.

The UNIDO expert noted that she is responsible for UNIDO’s project “Inclusive Green Growth in Egypt” (IGGE), which is being implemented in collaboration with the government of Egypt.

With the general support of the government of Switzerland, the IGGE project aims at supporting startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the green economy, with specific focus on sustainable agriculture and food production, waste management and sustainable energy.

Scandone noted that UNIDO also works on supporting enterprises to improve their productivity, competitiveness and all of the circular business models.

Moreover, the organization backs financial support institutions to improve their offerings for green enterprises, she said.

She added that UNIDO also works together with its government partners to address regulatory measures and policies needed for the uptake of green products, services and technologies.
