The Egyptian Health Ministry has – for the first time in the Middle East – joined forces with Facebook to encourage and regulate donation of blood plasma which proved to be effective in treatment from the coronavirus.
Blood plasma has proved to be effective in treating critical coronavirus cases.
Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said people aging between 18 to 65 years old can register on Faceebbok as blood donor either through “donate blood” option in his personal file or through https://www.facebook.com/donateblood.
Those applying for blood donation will receive messages on their cell phones through 28 centers for Blood Transfusion Services nationwide, including five centers for donation of blood plasma of recovered coronavirus patients.
These centers are listed on the Health Ministry’s website.
He underlined the importance of blood donation in such critical stage.
He stressed that all needed preventive measures should be taken to ensure the donor’s safety.
Meanwhile, Facebook public policies manager in Egypt Nashwa Gad it is pride to cooperate with the Egyptian Health Ministry, accentuating that this partnership falls within the framework of Facebook’s efforts to give hand to health institutions in such hard stage.
She hailed cooperation between the ministry and Facebook to spread awareness about the coronavirus.
She added that this campaign will help those applying to donate blood to get all needed information and guidelines involved, especially with regard to the blood plasma donation.
Those applying for blood donation can invite their Facebook friends to join the campaign.
Facebook as a key social media platform will mobilize as much people as possible to join the campaign which is vital in the current stage.
