China extends dlrs 10 m educational grant to Egypt’s Suez Canal Univ.

China extended a 10-million-dollar grant for educational equipment to the Egyptian Chinese College for Applied Technology at the Suez Canal University.

Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr signed the grant agreement with Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang, in the presence of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and Head of the Asian Sector in the Ministry Mona Ahmed.

The agreement falls within the framework of promoting the strategic partnership between Egypt and China to maximize the benefits of Chinese grants to Egypt in many fields, the most important of which is vocational education field.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said this college – which started work at Suez Canal University last year – supports technical schools graduates, pointing out that this agreement will include the supply of devices and equipment for laboratories.

For his part, the Chinese diplomat said the college is the first joint project between both countries in the technical education field, noting that the project was vital as Chinese companies are working to increase their investments in Egypt during the coming period.

He said this cooperation in technical education field contributes to the preparation of more qualified youths in Egypt, stressing that Egypt and China will sign more agreements in the future in the technical education field.

He noted that there is an agreement between both countries relating to technical education projects within the frame of linking with Belt and Road initiative.

Meanwhile, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr stressed the importance of cooperation between both Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the framework of investing in human capital.

She pointed out that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is deeply interested to develop the technical and technological education system in order to prepare the Egyptian youth and provide them with all modern requirements to meet labor market needs.

Nasr noted that the relationship between Egypt and China is a strategic one and the coming period will witness more agreements between both countries; highlighting that the Egyptian Chinese College is a model of partnership between the two countries in the vocational education field.

The college aims to develop and refine students’ talents through the application of Chinese technology in the field of vocational and technological education.
