President Abdel Fattah El Sisi appeared on his bike on Wednesday as he joined world youths in their peace marathon in the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh.
The marathon was organized within the framework of the World Youth Forum which is due to wrap up work late in the day.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is not only keen on promoting peace, he is also interested in encouraging people to adopt healthy and eco-friendly attitudes through practicing sports, especially bikes which can help people enjoy better health and use clean transportation means.
Sisi also appeared in media riding a bike while inspecting preparations for the ongoing World Youth Forum.
The president seeks to serve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through encouraging people to adopt healthy habits as well as taking tangible steps to combat climate change and curb air pollution.
Air pollution kills an estimated seven million people worldwide every year. The World Health Organization (WHO) data shows that 9 out of 10 people breathe air containing high levels of pollutants.
More than 80% of people living in urban areas that monitor air pollution are exposed to air quality levels that exceed WHO guideline limits, with low- and middle-income countries suffering from the highest exposures, both indoors and outdoors.
